1. Introduction
The self-regulating electric tracing band, also known as the self-limited electric tracing band, is a type of band limited heat tracing device equipped with an electric heating power self-regulating system. The cable is designed to automatically limit temperature and regulate heating power in response to changes in the temperature of the heated system, ensuring that the working system remains stable within the set optimal operating temperature range.

3. Operating principle
The self-regulating electric tracing band's heating element consists of a core band made of PTC material, which is evenly extruded between two parallel metal busbars. The carbon particles dispersed in the PTC material form numerous fine conductive carbon networks when melted, extruded, and cooled. This forms PTC parallel circuits with core strips when connected across the busbars. The PTC layer acts as a resistance heating element continuously connected in parallel between busbars, converting electrical energy into heat energy to maintain the operating system warm. As the temperature of the core rises to the corresponding high resistance region, it almost blocks the current and reaches an auto temperature limiting state. At steady state, the output power of the cable is mainly controlled by the heat transfer process and temperature of the heated system as it transfers heat through its sheath.
